Reverend Al Sharpton is founder and President of the National Action Network organization (NAN) which began in 1991. Since then, chapters have been implemented throughout each state within the United States in an effort to expand its foundational services nationwide. NAN is one of the leading Civil Rights organizations in the nation.
NANPBO is therefore, a non-profit Civil Rights organization who operates under the mission of the National Action Network (NAN). NANPBO promotes social justice and equality among all people including Native and Black American populations in the spirit of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
NANPBO represents a voice for the underrepresented and the underprivileged populations, encourages voter registration, participation, adequate education, decency, and advocates against issues of police misconduct.
NANPBO Mission Statement:
To serve as a megaphone for the voiceless and as an advocate for those in need throughout the Portland Metropolitan areas.
NANPBO provides its services through the following program initiatives to address issues of inequalities, injustices, and inequities:

2. The Social Justice Initiative
3. The Criminal Justice Initiative
4. The Healthcare Wellness Initiative
5. Membership Initiative
